Need for Censoring

Several of our friends blogs have put up blogs or comments stating that they will delete or censor ignorant comments. It is sad that people who are abuse survivors have to put up with people leaving comments that put them down or say it is their fault or they were asking for it or quit your bellyachin'! It is beyond me, seriously, how can people put down people who are abuse survivors? Maybe they are abusers themselves? That would be a logical assumption based on their behaviors and comments in my opinion.

Constructive comments are one thing, they may be meant to help someone see something they missed or just didn't consider, but ignorant and abusive comments are destructive. People who tend to leave comments like that, why not just stay away from those blogs or sites? I personally don't believe in what the nazis did in Germany or what their supporters stand for now here in the states but I don't go to their sites and leave ignorant comments, I just stay away from them.

The sites in question are support sites, sites where people blog about what happened to them, what they are trying to overcome, for the purpose of relieving their pain because writing about abuse and talking about gets it out. It also lets others know they are not alone. It is a good thing NOT a bad thing.

So there is my two cents worth on editing comments.

Should Have Stayed Away

Did you ever have a restaurant around you that you have heard of, it's been there for years and years, in fact it is one of the closest restaurants to you, but you have never been there? There is one like that about 2 miles from our house. It is a Mexican restaurant named Pueblo Nuevo, owned by Mexicans, the food is authentic we presume, and until tonight we never had tried their food.

There are several very good Mexican restaurants around here, several of which we have visited for many years. Most of these have been well received by the local reviewers over the years, as has the one near us.
When we recently went to our state capital for the hearing about Keepers former therapist we were directed to a Mexican restaurant, El Jimador, in town and we did try it and found the food to be extremely good and tasty and inexpensive. It was a wonderful meal in the middle of a rather tense 24 hours.

On the way to visit Pastor Brown when he was in the hospital we tried another Mexican restaurant Ruiz-Castillo, one owned and operated by one of the children of a very good restaurant owner also near us, Ruiz's, and this too was very good though a bit overpriced. Ruiz's is better food at a better price and has been here for over 25 years.

Hacienda is the other excellent Mexican restaurant around here, even though it had two locations, one owned by the wife the other by the husband after a divorce. The wifes location was the original location and after the family split the food here continued to be excellent and very inexpensive. Many a family dinner was eaten there over the years. One of Keepers brothers introduced us to it. The 2nd location, owned by the husband was much larger, styled like Casa Gallardo restaurants but retaining the Hacienda recipes so the food was excellent and still less expensive than the chains and much better tasting.

Getting back to tonights meal, I recently read a review of various types of restaurants in our area, a list of five for each classification, for Italian, Mexican, Greek, Seafood, Steakhouses, etc and Pueblo Nuevo was listed as one of the 5 best in our fair city. So tonight we decided to try it finally.
We should have stayed away. From the salsa which wasn't salsa for the chips, this was a sauce not a salsa, to the sauce over the enchiladas the food was not nearly like what we had at the other Mexican restaurants and had always loved. So after all of these years, we finally tried it, and wish we hadn't.

If we had never eaten at these other excellent restaurants we may have liked this one, not having them to compare to, but we had and it just didn't measure up to our expectations. Sometimes when you try something that has been put off for a long time, it is best to leave it alone.

Til next time,

Minor Problems-We Hope!

Well the server switch has been completed, now Andrzej has to fix the things that the switch discombobulated. The Weblog is the main problem, won't let new members sign up and won't let us post new entries and all of the old comments are missing!!!! Other than that all is well, kinda, sorta.

We tried to use our lower partial today, hoping that the extra days of healing would let us wear it and so far, it actually is working and doesn't hurt!! This may work after all! We certainly hope so.
If it does work now we can consider the dental work a smashing success!!

Like a lot of our friends we got clobbered with snow, sleet and wind today, and now it is getting really cold here. Andrzej, our new webmaster got hit with 12 inches of snow and is still counting, Aussie got snow and cold, how cold we won't say but take our word for it, it is cold according to her rationale!!!!!!

John and Keepers went to Red Lobster for our Valentines supper a night early, we always go the night before to avoid the rush and with the snow and cold it was a sparse crowd. We had shrimp lovers Tuesday and loved it. Shrimp Scampi and fried shrimp, potatoes, salad and those cheddar biscuits!!! Then we had a piece of lemon meringue pie (Mrs Smith) at home for desert.

Do the florists all over the place rip people off where you live? Two weeks ago a dozen roses was $15 here, now they are $35-50 and next week they will $15 again. We told John once if he ever paid Valentine's day prices for roses we would shoot him!!! If he didn't do it first. To be honest we would rather go to Red Lobster than have the roses, besides Max and Owen just eat the roses or knock them over, all of our cats have eaten any flowers brought into this house.

Well, keep your fingers crossed that the problems with the blog can be corrected soon and we can return to the site to blog. You can still visit the galleries, read the articles, even the archived blogs so feel free to visit over there but if you get some freaky responses, send us an e-mail and let us know what happened so we can pass on to Andrzej for him to investigate and correct.

Thanks for visiting and we will see you all tomorrow!

Peace and blessings

Keeperskorner on Holiday

As we get switched from one server to another we will take a bit of a holiday we guess. We will still visit our blogging friends sites and get some new updates for the galleries ready for our new webmaster Andrzej to upload and even write some blogs and post them here on John Michael's blog to keep in touch with everyone.

We hope to be back on line by late Thursday or early Friday, at least that is what Andrzej assures us. Andrzej is this wonderful man of Polish extraction who cracks up John and me, and when John and Andrzej get together, which the world could not handle too often, there is much laughing, more than a little beer drinking and so many innuendos are tossed around it's enough to make a girl blush. But boy does he know computers and all of this IT stuff that John and I struggle with so much. We welcome him to the task of being our new webmaster and look forward to a long and happy relationship.

Sometime tomorrow Keperskorner will be "down" but we don't know what the message will be so we cannot tell you that. So we hope to see and hear from many of you here and back at Keeperskorner by Friday. have a wonderful rest of the evening or early morning depending on where you are. Feel free to email us also, just our site will be down but our email will be just fine.

peace and blessings

Guest Blogs

Next week, Tuesday through Thursday probably, keeperskorner will be unaccessible due to being switched from one server to another by our new webmaster. Until the site is back up Keepers will post their blogs on this site. If you are not a usual visitor to Keeperskorner we hope you will return here and read some of their blogs and maybe you will get interested to visit the site once it is accessible again.

For those of you who do not know of Keeperskorner it is a site for multiples, those who have multiple personalities and other abuse survivors. It is the web arm of Keeperkorner Inc. a nonprofit corporation chartered in the state of Missouri, USA. The mission of keeperkorner is to Offer non therapeutic and non advisory contact, caring and support for abuse survivors, including those with MPD/DID, and their loved ones. The Vision is To build a network of survivors who will offer assistance, education, caring and support in a non-therapeutic manner to help enable those abused to not only survive but also to thrive.

We offer support via articles, a toll free number for US residents to call to hear a friendly voice attached to someone who will listen, art that hopefully will touch your heart as well as poetry. There are other services and items available which many may find soothing, especially to those who are multiple and their littles are particularly needy emotionally. That is why we have some stuffed animals and "softies" that many littles enjoy holding.

Keepers blogs are about their efforts to not only survive but to thrive and how they are doing it, but also seeking advice and comments from others who may have already "been there done that". All survivors are at different points on their road to recovery, and all can use support in one way or another. All they ask is common courtesy, support and honesty.

We hope you will come back next week and visit keepers blogs and hopefully leave a comment or two. Til then, be good to yourselves.

Ramblings

Day after the Super bowl, which i didn't watch, never really got into football, especially if the home team isn't involved. So I get on the net and check out the commercials which in my opinion a very large percentage of people watch the Super Bowl for anyway. I wasn't impressed, a couple made me laugh, some were inventive but overall...big deal.

Cold, cold, cold!!!!! that is all it has been for weeks now, or at least it seems so. Longest stretch of consecutive days below freezing since back in the 1970's here! So cold that when it snows, it is very dry snow, can't make a snowman or a snowball but it is still slick!! do not want to see heating bills, will take months to pay off.

Can't find Whiskas cat food in the single pouches anywhere all of a sudden. Max and Owen are not happy over this development in our local grocers and Walmarts. No not one single bit. Out of desperation and attempts to appease them I bought some canned cat food that said "turkey and giblets in gravy" with the "in gravy" being the words that drew my attention to it knowing what they go for! So I bought some, took it home, opened a can and found about 1/4 tsp of gravy and some kind of mush which I guess was the turkey and giblets. I gave it to them, they ate some but we all know this will not suffice, not for their palates, no way Jose!!

Keepers have been helping an on line friend of ours come to some sort of understanding of her multiplicity. Hearing the diagnosis and accepting it are two different things. Sometimes there is a very long time between the two. It is only normal to not accept it even though it explains a lot. As another friend said in her blog, to accept the diagnosis I have to accept the causes and I don't want to do that.

We have another on line friend that we know is doing way too much and the toll is wearing her down very much. We are afraid for her life it is that serious. She has a heart condition, physically there are problems, emotionally it is too big, it is full of love for fellow man and animals. She too is a survivor, not a multiple, but a survivor and she needs to ease off a bit before she puts herself in the ground in which case she will be no good to anyone, no help to anyone, she will just be gone forever, a memory. We hope she can find a way to ease off and help herself also.

The unneeded tragedy here the last several days, two children have been killed by other children with guns!! One was two the other three, one by a handgun one by a shotgun, the handgun was left on a table, loaded, next to the couch in full view. The shotgun was under the couch, whether it was loaded or not has not been determined yet. No matter, two children are dead because adults left guns easily accessible, two children are dead because other children shot them. Were they not taught that guns kill? Where does the blame lie? On media? parents? adults in charge? everyone? nobody? Two children are dead, does anybody care?

Have a nice day

John Michael
